Volunteer

There’s a number of ways you can volunteer with us in our fight for marriage equality, either on a regular on-going basis or just every once and a while. Whatever you can offer, your time is always appreciated!

Coordinating Committees

Get involved in helping plan MERI and MERIEF strategy for the next few years. Currently the following committees are working under the guidance of the Board:

Base-building
Creates a movement for change from the grassroots level up. Coordinates and builds alliances with other supportive groups, plans awareness and education events, and organizes actions involving the community.

Communications
Conduit to media, community, constituents on all organizational matters and events. Formulates strategy to respond and react to issues of concern, and creates media opportunities as an outgrowth of activities and current news.

Fundraising
Create events and campaigns that provide income for MERI.  Events include house parties, dinners, social events and online campaigns.

Legislative
Monitor legislative activity according to 501c4 guidelines, interact with legislators to create strategy for success in achieving marriage equality.

Events

We are always planning a number of events and we need your help to make them a success. Be an event volunteer, help plan local and statewide actions, participate in community meetings, outreach in your town, or host a Marriage Equality house party.

Talk to your Legislators

Affecting change at the statehouse is a vital element of our work and the most effective voice is yours. Join us in visiting the State House and talk directly to your representatives and senators.

Help Us Get the Word Out

We’re a grassroots organization: we rely on you to help us spread the word on marriage equality. If you just have a couple hours here or there, you could help us with preparing mailings, distributing flyers or by making phone calls. If you want to get out and spread the word in your community, please join us when we table at events around the state to answer questions or collect signatures. If you’re comfortable speaking in front of groups, you might be interested in joining our Speakers Bureau and get trained to speak to community groups, business leaders and the media on marriage equality issues.

Special skills

If you have a special skill (bilingual, sign language, photography, etc.) or own a local business, we’d love to talk with you about opportunities for you to donate your skills, goods or services in-kind to MERIEF.
